Jimmy “Soul Doctor” Carpenter With BluesMove
Sunday 16th January 2022 4.30pm
On Sunday 16th Jan we present an artist recognised as one of the world’s great rock and roll, soul and blues saxophonists.
Winner of 2021 Grammy Award and Blues Music Award for Best Instrumentalist/Horn, Jimmy Carpenter as one of just a handful of gigs on this UK tour.
In Jimmy’s own words – “Looking forward to going back to the Hope Tavern, wonderful intimate and very friendly little spot!”
For those who missed him on his previous visit, Saxophonist Jimmy Carpenter is one of the unsung heroes of the 24/7/365 world of New Orleans music, a mainstay from Frenchmen Street to the Maple Leaf and now is a leading light in the Las Vegas music scene.
In addition to leading his own band and playing with numerous others, he is the Musical Director for the Big Blues Bender, and leader of the Bender Brass, The Bender’s house band. He is the current president of the Las Vegas Blues Society, and in 2020 was nominated for a Blues Music Award, his 5th for Best Instrumentalist/Horn.
On this occasion he comes with the familiar top class fourpiece band BluesMove, normally associated in the past with Sherman Robertson amongst others and includes Julian Grudgings (Peter Green and remember the days with Mick Pini Band) on keyboards, Mike Hellier (drums – played with the “who’s who” in Blues) Gaz Rackham (Bass) and Lead guitar, Steve Wright (Connie Lush Band).
I couldn’t wish for a better start to the New Years Music calendar and hope you can come along and share it.
We start at 4.30 and the door charge for this gig is £13.
